Wig wag/strobe light for my Zenith Cruzer that I built. Super bright, very easy to make.
These are wig wag / strobe style flashers I made using off the shelf components and PCB boards I made using easyeda.com PCB software. I am not interested in selling them but I can share the details on how you can build them yourself. You can message me on FB. The lens and lens base are series 19 clearance lights made by Truck-Lite. The LED are 5w 6v beads that are super powerful. Use two in series for 12v.

    Whats the hp output. Would this work on a kitfox series 7. I know they had used the viking 130hp on them before. My kit comes in, in Nov 24. I need to start considering engine options. Most likly the rotax 912uls but your design is amazing. You are brilliant.

      Good luck your Kitfox, great airplane for sure. I want to add that my engine install was NOT a Viking Engine installation. The only part of my set up that was Viking was the Gearbox. (Viking no longer sells gearboxes by themselves.) The rest I created myself. I used the R18 which stock is about 145 may be a bit more. I added a turbo to it and added very little boost, about 4 psi. So I would guess that I was only developing about 170 may be 180 HP tops. I was very happy with it. Flew it for about 250 hours and sold it.

    Thanks for the video, I was doing valve adjustments on my R18 engine with 147K miles. What have you found works best for going over rivets. You mention heat and "finger compressed." Are you just applying enough heat to soften the sheet and pressing it down? Maybe rolling your finger over it? I've never been able to find a good tutorial on rivets. :)

    One clarification is the part where I said it was very hard to remove. That is true, but, if you use a heat gun it comes off very easy. But without a heatgun it adheres to bare aluminum quite strongly. Hope that clarifies the statement. I buy from EPDwilldowfilm.com. They ship quickly and pricing is good.

      I would say in most cases, yes. But for most small light planes were probably only talking about 7-8 lbs or so. But I have never weighed a plane before and after painting or vinyl wrapping to give hard numbers. I think we would be hard pressed to find anyone who offered up answers. I.E. how much weight would a gallon of paint be added once all the solvents have evaporated? Many will have opinions but most of them will be guesses. Good question though. I'll try to weigh the next order of vinyl for the wings when it comes in. By the way. Polishing added no weight. Food for thought.

    Installed these on a riding mower ua-cam.com/users/postUgkxetgfkJxfdT_B2vGYP-uNTLaBbim9OKTD . They were sharp out of the box, although I've never liked blade edges that were coated...not quite as sharp as I personally want. Using my belt sander, I removed the coating from the cutting edges and refined the edge enough to shave with them. So far, after three runs, these blades are holding up as expected. Even after hitting a few fallen 1/2 inch or so branches, the edges are still sharp as heck. No edge dings, no warping, etc. As far as installing them, the cutouts were of the proper size and shape to fit my aging Craftsman mower. Very satisfied.

    • @charosenz

      When applied correctly it is also an excellent method to cool air inlet temps too. Some people just don't know this.

    • @chippyjohn1
      @chippyjohn1 Рік тому

      @@charosenz You are correct. Ideally the setup should already have cool inlet. In the even of not having a sufficient charge cooler, water/meth will do this. All leads to the same outcome. If you have it setup near the inlet valves it will have little effect on inlet cooling. having it setup further from the valves increases the risk of inconsistent distribution and pooling in the manifold. Depends on individual runner length.

    • @chippyjohn1
      @chippyjohn1 Рік тому

      @@charosenz the way you have this set up. you may be only ingesting part of the water meth thinking it is working. Meanwhile you have a portion of it pooling in the bottom of the manifold. You change angles in the aircraft and one or many cylinders are flooded with water meth, then a bang. because the liquid is more dense, it does not follow the same path as air, it can miss an inlet port and pool in the corner of the manifold. if you have it setup up stream, the intake needs to be more like that designed for carburettors, having a direct path for the fuel. nice work though, how did this all turn out?

    Curious of how many pounds of boost it's running at full power climb and cruise? Also do you have fuel burn numbers at cruise and full power? I know you feel that this Honda engine is nearly bullet proof internally but "I Do Cars" channel tore down a 1.4L GM ecotech turbo engine from a chevy Cruze and compared the piston rod thickness to one of a Honda Fit or Civic and the thickness differences were HUGE. Therefore, I would be careful with the amount of boost your engine is pushing since the piston rods really wasn't designed for turbo charging. I'll link that video if your channel allows it?

So the saving was several thousand compared with a viking engine, mount and cowl. . For me it was never really about saving money. I really like the SDSEFI. it was easy to program and I really like the mixture knob feature. I have over 250,000 views on my VAF thread in the Alternative Engines forum on VAF.net. Hence there is a TON of interest in my project and auto conversions per se. But sadly most are lurkers who don't comment out of not wanting to get jumped on by so many folks in the Vans community who are very quick to tell you how stupid you are and that you are going to kill yourself on and on. I had to work hard at stopping the hassle asking them allow folks who want to experience experimental powerplants as much as experimental airframes... to be free from parental style comments.
